2024-03-25
The ten-day "Hong Kong Flower Show 2024" in Victoria Park successfully concluded on 25 March. The Leisure and Cultural Services Department held a Green Recycling Day Activities. Exhibitors, contractors, volunteers and the public participated in practising the "3R Principles", namely "Reduce, Reuse and Recycle" to achieve the goal of a "Green Flower Show for All”. Under the scorching sun, Team of Care moved, pruned, sorted and eradicated at the flower show venue to help sort reusable or recycled materials to reduce waste disposal. The organizer also held environmental protection workshops to teach relevant knowledge and vegetable growing methods. The landscape exhibits and flowers and plants that have been upcycled were sent to parks or recreational venues under the LCSD for resettlement or replanting; at the same time, the replanted flowers will be given to schools, environmental groups and non-governmental organizations to green the community through the "Give the Flowers a New Home!" Jockey Club Flower Re-planting Scheme. More than 10,000 potted plants were given away to more than 70 organizations.
