Preventing the Tragedy of Child Marriage Knows No Borders: "Run For Girls" Campaign Successfully Raises Funds

Plan International Hong Kong held the charity run - “’Run For Girls!’ 2026” on 11 April 2026 at the Hong Kong Science Park. More than 2,000 runners took part in the event to raise funds for the Foundation’s anti-child-marriage project in Bangladesh.The organizers said that Bangladesh is one of the countries with the highest rates of child marriage worldwide. According to United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) data, 50% of girls marry before the age of 18, and 15% are married before they turn 15. This year’s charity run theme was “Breaking Through Human Trafficking”. The donations raised will help the Foundation’s anti-human-trafficking work in Nepal and promote awareness of trafficking prevention. Celebrities, including Stephy Tang, Katy Kung, Roxanne Ho, and Joey Law, attended as guests, bringing an enthusiastic atmosphere to the event.“Team of Care” not only fielded runners to participate in the race, but also helped with crowd control, distributed souvenirs, and assisted visitors and runners with photography. After the opening ceremony, Dr Kanie Siu, the Chief Executive Officer of Plan International Hong Kong, extended her heartfelt gratitude to the “Team of Care”.
